We will continue with our tryouts for our competitive teams these next 2 weeks. We will be indoors until at least until early May as we need the grass to start to grow and the weather to warm up. For now we will remain in the gym until that time. Please make sure that players have clean sneakers, shinpads and socks.
Under 11 Tryouts:
Please take note - We have had a large number of registered players on both the girls (40) and on the boys (25) side for the Under 11 age group. Because of this we are going to ask that the Under 9 aged players to hold off for now in coming out with the Under 11 tryouts as we just don't have the space to have any extra players in the gym for these tryouts. We would ask that only Under 11 aged players attend these upcoming tryouts on the list below.
We need to get to know all of the Under 11 players that we do have registered, if in the end we think we will need a couple of under 9's to round out a team or two then we will use the under 9 travel team tryouts to evaluate those potential players (see next section).
Under 9 Travel Team Tryouts:
We do know that a lot of the Under 9's are very keen to get going so we are going to try something a little different and we will start the process earlier for the Under 9 Travel teams - in the past we usually didn't start this until the middle or latter part of June but we are going to get things going earlier this year and will get going the last week of April.
The Under 9 Travel Team program is set up so that any of the players who have registered to play Under 9 within the community programs this summer can come out to the tryouts for the Under 9 Travel Teams if they wish to do so. We are hoping to make 2 girls teams and 2 boys teams and these teams would train on average once a week but there would be some weeks where they may not be a session, especially once the Community programs get going. Players MUST play in the community programs in order to be a part of these teams. These teams do NOT play in an island wide league, they would hopefully attend a couple of one day jamborees that other clubs put on during the summer months but it is not a competitive weekly game sort of system like Under 11, Under 13, etc.. so parents need to be aware of that. It is more of a training opportunity for players with hopefully a few games mixed in to prepare them for when they reach the Under 11 age. These teams will be chosen so if we have 25 girls out we will not be keeping 25, it would be maximum 9 players per team with a maximum of 2 teams, same on the boys side.
