Hi everyone,
We just wanted to give a bit of an update on the Under 11 girls and boys teams and what the plan is going to be for the next two to three weeks as we continue to work our way through this process.
It will most likely be another couple of weeks before we get going outside and even when this does happen, we will be training on fields that likely will not be lined until at least mid to late May. The tryouts this week (April 27 to 29) will remain indoors for sure, we will update the schedule soon for the first week of May but that week will likely remain indoors as well.
With the number of players that we have had at the under 11 level coming out to tryout, it has definitely been challenging to properly assess everyone in the gym. Even if we are able to get outside the first week of May it would be on fields that are not lined or fully ready for the summer. The closest alternative that we have to a full outdoor field with lines already down at this time would be the dome in Summerside. We have secured some time at the dome on Saturday, May 9 and what we are hoping to accomplish is the following:
We would like to have the under 11 boys come in from 9:00 to 10:15 am at the Dome on the 9th where we would have a quick warm up, then split everyone into 2 teams and then they would play a full field game for approximately an hour. We would have a referee in place for this game as well and it would give the coaches a much better feel for everything.
We would then have the girls come in from 10:15 to 12:00 pm (we have approximately 25 boys and 40 girls potentially so we are thinking we may need a bit of extra time on the girls side). Depending on how many girls attended we would either go with 2 half field games going on at a time and we would play 3 games approximately 25-30 minutes in length each or if we have smaller numbers then we would do the full field with 2 teams made and probably just go to 11:30 am.
The dome is about $250 per hour for the full field so the cost per player would be $15. The dome also has a 7 day cancel policy so we will need to have EVERY player who has registered for Under 11 confirm whether they can attend by May 1st. If a player commits to going and something happens and they change their mind after May 1st, then they will be still be expected to pay their $15 share as the club can't make any changes to the booked time after then. The $15 can be paid either by e-transfer (send to
westprincestorm@gmail.com) or by cash at any of the upcoming tryouts this week for Under 11.
Therefore, for any players who have registered for Under 11 this summer – please go to the google form below and answer the questions so that we know if you will be planning to be in attendance on that day. We want to be able to have some team lists put together for when everyone gets there at the Dome. We do think it will be a different experience for anyone who has never played on turf before.
