Community Program Update - Under 5, Under 7 and Under 9

Sunday, June 7, 2026

Hi everyone,

Apologies for the delay in getting this update out there for everyone.  Please see below for a full update with regards to the Under 5, Under 7 and Under 9 community programs.

Registration deadline:

Our registration’s will close on June 15th at midnight so if you know of anyone else who is wanting to play for any of these programs, please have them register on our website before that date.

Under 5 Bloomfield Program:

The Bloomfield under 5 program will begin on June 30 and the sessions will be every Tuesday at 9 am for that group. The program does have its full capacity of 20 players and there is a waiting list. If any of the 20 are no longer playing at Bloomfield then please email Brian at allainbrian@hotmail.com so that we can offer a spot to the first ones on the waiting list.  We will be reaching out in the next week or two to the 20 players as well who are registered to confirm their participation.

Under 5 Hernewood Program:

The Hernewood under 5 program will also begin on June 30 and the sessions will be every Tuesday night at 5:30 pm for that group. The group currently has 27 players and it has a capacity of 30, so there is room for 3 more. We will be reaching out to all the players who have registered to confirm they are still playing as well in the next week or two.

Under 7 Community Program:

Currently we have approximately 100 players registered at the Under 7 age level between all of the communities.  When the registration was set up Bloomfield was unsure of whether they would have a program or not so the options were Tignish, Alberton, O’Leary and Ellerslie.  Bloomfield will indeed offer an Under 7 program so anyone whose preference would have been to play in Bloomfield as in past years will have to email Brian at allainbrian@hotmail.com and let him know that they are hoping to switch from the community originally selected to Bloomfield.

The most that Bloomfield can take at this level is 18 players so if we get more than that for requests, we will do a draw to see which players are moving to that location. I know that is perhaps not the most ideal solution but it is the best one that we can come up with.

Please make sure to email Brian by June 13 at midnight to be considered for this change. For those players who do end up in Bloomfield, their practice time will be on Tuesday’s beginning June 30 and they will be at 10 am.

A reminder that the under 7’s will be made into co-ed teams in each community and they will be coming to Hernewood every Wednesday night, beginning July 8, for a weekly game against another team.

Under 9 Community Program:

The registration numbers are looking pretty good overall. Right now it looks like we should be able to field a boys team and a girls team at least from each of the 4 communities of Tignish, Alberton, O’Leary and Ellerslie and there could be a second team in some of those areas as well. We are hoping to start the community practices the week of June 29 and the first game night will be Thursday, July 2 and every Thursday after that.

Misc. information:

We are planning to meet soon with the community recreation directors and Go West PEI to get some things put in place – practice times for the community teams, coaches for the various teams, etc..

If anyone is interested in coaching at the community level for either Under 7 or Under 9 (we have had a few people reach out) please don’t hesitate to contact Brian at allainbrian@hotmail.com

Any volunteers will need to register with the club and anyone who is going to be doing some coaching, whether at the under 7 or under 9 level or with the under 5 program, will need to provide the club with a criminal background check as well.

There will definitely be more information to follow next week once we get the final registration numbers in place, figure out the under 7 numbers for Bloomfield now that they will be offering a program there, etc..

Thank you for your time and patience as we get things underway for these programs as well.
