Hi everyone,
I am going to try and give as much of an update as I can for everyone - both for community programs and competitive teams. I apologize for not having a chance to answer all emails, will try and do so in the next 24 hours.
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS:
Under 5 Bloomfield - registrations are full for this program. Joey will be starting his program on July 8 and he will go every Tuesday at 9 am for his sessions.
Under 5 Hernewood - we have had some interest in having a second program for Under 5 which we would base out of Hernewood. We will send out a notice soon but we are planning to have a program which will start in late June or early July and it will be one day a week with our summer students doing the coaching.
Under 7 community programs - we should be able to have programs for Ellerslie, O’Leary, Bloomfield, Alberton and Tignish. The only confirmed times for training with any of the groups is Bloomfield. They will be starting on July 3 and will look to go every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 am. We are going to have another meeting with the community leaders in early June to try and finalize numbers for each group and to also finalize practice dates/coaches/jamboree dates.
Under 9 community programs - we should be able to have teams for Ellerslie, O’Leary, Alberton and Tignish for both boys and girls. The game night is going to be Thursday night’s again like it was in 2024, we will try and get the practice times nailed down when we meet with the community leaders.
Under 11 community programs - numbers have been very light so far with the under 11 registrations, we will definitely need more registrations if we want to have any chance of having a league set up for games.
We will be sending out another notice to the schools either by the end of this week or beginning of next week and will hopefully have another little uptake in our registration numbers.
COMPETITIVE TEAMS:
The season kicks off in full this week with pretty much all of our teams playing games. The schedule for the week is as follows:
Monday, May 26
6:00 to 7:00 pm for under 18 girls practice (both teams)
7:00 pm - Senior women division 1 travel to Stratford for their first league game
7:00 pm - Senior women division 3 host their first game at Hernewood
Tuesday, May 27
5:15 to 6:15 pm - Under 11 girls division 2 and division 3 practice
6:30 pm - Under 18 girls premier host Winsloe (chance this game could move to 7 pm start)
6:30 pm to 7:30 pm for under 13 boys first division practice
Wednesday, May 28
5:30 to 6:30 pm for under 11 boys division 2 team practice
6:30 to 7:30 pm for under 11 boys division 3 team practice
7:00 pm - Under 18 girls first division travel to Kensington (play at Queen Elizabeth Elementary school)
Thursday, May 29
6:30 pm - Under 13 girls first division travel to Hunter River to play RC United
7:00 pm - Under 13 boys first division play their first home game at Hernewood
Friday, May 30
6:00 pm - Under 11 boys division 3 travel to SIS to play Summerside Two
6:00 pm - Under 11 girls division 2 host Kensington at Hernewood
7:20 pm - Under 11 girls division 3 host Kensington at Hernewood
Saturday, May 31
9:15 am - Under 11 boys division 2 host Kensington at Hernewood
*** As I am away on Wednesday and Thursday night with teams having their first away games and will need to use Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday evenings to also try and finish preparing our fields for the summer (and potentially may have to cover a bit of the under 18 girls premier game on Tuesday), it is not going to leave me much time to practice this week. Therefore, the under 13 girls will not have a practice for this week and we will look to start the under 9 travel team tryouts in full the following week once we get our second summer student in place hopefully to help with that process.
