Under 7 Community Update

The Under 7 community program still has a few questions left to be answered as our numbers are not the greatest in a couple of areas.  If there are any mistakes in the update below please email me at allainbrian@hotmail.com

See below for what we have confirmed and what we still have left to answer…(for anyone who has not sent in their $50 registration fee please do so by July 11 to avoid any late fees)

Under 7 O’Leary

We have a decent number of boys for under 7 but very few girls.  The plan is to have the group train together for practices (day & time to be determined - still waiting to hear back from the recreation director) and then when it comes to the jamboree’s the boys should have enough to enter a team into any of the boys jamborees if they want to.  For the girls we will combine the girls from O’Leary with the girls from Ellerslie for the moment and they will play together for the under 7 jamborees.  I know it is not the greatest solution but at least they would have a chance to play together and get some jamboree dates in so they can play some games.

Boys - Jeoff Ashton Tupal, Cole Coughlin, Emmett Curran, Bradley Gaudet, Hank MacFarlane, Felix Ramsay, Jude Cooke

Girls - Parker MacIsaac, Harper Smallman, Poppy Cooke

Under 7 Alberton

We have very low numbers for under 7 in Alberton with just a handful of boys & girls.  I will be in touch with the folks at town hall tomorrow to see where they are at with a recreation director/summer student.  If they are not going to able to help us in any way then we are going to have to come up with an alternate plan for this group.  We do have enough that they could train together weekly if we can get a volunteer to take that role on or if the town is going to have a summer student.

For the jamborees, since the plan was to have a boys division and a girls division, we will have to get creative and right now I think the plan would be to have the girls join up with the u7 girls from Tignish since they don’t have a large group either and create one team for the jamborees.  With the u7 boys there is already a large group in Tignish but if we add in the few boys from Alberton for the jamborees I still think we could make it work.

Extra training sessions:

As some of the communities are a little up in the air when it comes to the final set up for under 7 we are going to offer an open night at Hernewood on Wednesday nights where our summer students will offer up some optional practice sessions.  The time will be from 5:45 to 6:30 and these will start on Wednesday, July 9 - if we find that the group is turning out to be quite large then we will separate the groups and offer a second session on the Wednesday night.  There is no fee for these sessions, they are simply an add-on.
