Under 11 Boys Update - May 22

May. 22, 2023

Hello everyone,

We just wanted to give everyone an update on the status of the Under 11 boys team.  We have gone from trying to find players to play this summer to now having too many players for one team.  The Under 11 team only plays 7 vs. 7 on the field so the absolute maximum that we could comfortably put on a team for a roster would be 13 players.  At the moment we are up to 15 players between the under 9 and under 11 boys combined so we are now in the tough position of having to "choose" the team for Under 11 instead of just barely having enough to play.

To try and make sure that we give everyone as much chance as we can to be on the team, we will have one more tryout on Wednesday, May 24 at 5:15 pm on the large soccer field at Hernewood.  After this session the team will be chosen and 13 players will be named to the team.  For the players we can't take full time at this point in time - unfortunately the best that we can offer is the chance to continue to train with the team and just pay the insurance fee of $60 and then if any of the 13 players are missing at any point in time, the coach for the team could call upon these two alternate players to come in and play.  There would be no guarantee of getting into games but as you can imagine, summer can be a very busy time so the hope is that they would get a chance to get into at least a couple of games over the course of the season.  We know that this is not the perfect solution but we also can't keep 15 players on the team on the chance that all 15 would show up and then we would have multiple players sitting for 15-20-25 minutes at a time and not getting on the field.  That scenario does not allow for enough player development so again the maximum that we can take for full time players would be 13.

The team list will be posted by Thursday at the very latest and the team will have their first game in Summerside on May 27 and will also be in Summerside on June 3 and then would have their first home game on June 10th most likely.  Both of the first games will be in the morning, the start time is to be determined.
