West Prince Storm Soccer club - U11 and U13 competitive team update May 13

May. 13, 2024

Under 11 Girls Update:

We will be having one under 11 girls team this summer.  The team will play on either Friday’s or Saturday’s beginning on the weekend of May 31st/June 1st and will do that thru the month of June.  Once we get into July the games will switch to Tuesday night.  The team will likely have anywhere from 10 to 12 games for their season, there are no playoffs for the Under 11 divisions.

The team roster is as follows:

Bree Clements

Faith Costello

Allie Dawson

Charlotte Delaney

Reece Howard

Abby Livingstone

Winter Matthews

Scarlett McLellan

Grace Newman

Lexus Rayner

Quinn Reilly

Mary Rogers

Addison Short

As well, we have six under 9 aged girls who are going to continue to train with the under 11 team and anytime any of the players are missing those six players will be the pool of players that we will draw from to replace.  We are also going to be looking to add another couple of girls to the under 9 aged group and we will be creating a club travel team for the under 9’s and these girls will go down to a couple of the one day mini soccer festivals (pretty sure the Stratford one is going to be July 6 with a rain date of July 7 but that has to be confirmed).  The six under 9 aged girls are:

Kacie Cooke

Lennon Cooke

Charley Corcoran

Aubrey Dawson

Raylee Ellsworth

Grace Smallman

We will be doing sizing tonight (Monday, May 13) at the practice as we need to get the uniforms ordered asap.  All registration fees and uniform fees ($30) must be paid by May 31 to avoid a $25 late fee penalty.  If you know of anyone who would be interested in helping to coach or manage this team, please let me know.  I am already coaching under 13 and under 18 so I am not going to be able to coach a third team full time.  I will try to run as many of the practices as I can for the summer.

Under 11 Boys Update:

The numbers have been fluctuating for the Under 11 boys tryouts.  I believe we are currently at approximately 27-28 players between the under 11 and under 9 aged players.  We will definitely be having two teams this summer which is fantastic. We will be back out tonight at 5:30 p at Hernewood outside.

The teams only play 7 vs. 7 including the goalkeeper so the maximum that we are going to have on a team would be 12-13 players.  With the first team playing in a stronger division (due to PEI soccer youth league rules we have to put one team in each of the two divisions they offer) we feel like 12 would probably be the absolute maximum for that team and 13 players will likely be put on the second team.  For the few players who we may not be able to take at this time they will have to go and play in the community programs but as they have shown an interest in playing competitive soccer, they would be welcome to continue to train with the second team if they wish to do so.  They could in turn be called up to play games with the second team if anyone was going to be missing while players from the second team can be called up to the first team to play anytime anyone is missing.

Our plan is to hopefully finalize the teams after the session next Monday, May 20 so that players can hopefully train once or twice with their own team before their first game which will be either on May 31st or June 1st.  The teams will continue to play on weekends for June and then once we get into July the first team will play on Monday nights mainly and the second team will play on Tuesday nights.  There are no playoff’s for the Under 11 divisions.  All registrations and uniform fees will have to be paid by June 1st to avoid a late penalty fee (which will still give close to 2 weeks from the time of team selections being made).  One of our summer students, Karch Porter, will be helping to coach both of these teams but if there were parents who would be interested in helping to manage, coach, etc.. please let us know as there will be times during the first month of the season that one team could be playing in one location and the other team play somewhere else.

Under 13 Girls team update:

The Under 13 girls team will begin their league play on May 30th - I am not sure how many teams are in the league yet nor do I have a full schedule but that should be coming shortly.  Their league game will take place every Thursday night.  I am planning for the team to be home on the night of the 30th for their first game.  I did some uniform sizing at the last session but if any parents are around on Tuesday at our next practice I would love for them to double check the sizes that the players chose (6 pm to 7 pm outside at Hernewood).  Some of the under 11 players will be training with the under 13 team when they can and they will be called in for games anytime any of the 12 are missing from below.

All registrations and uniform fees will need to be paid by June 1st to avoid a late penalty fee.  The team roster is as follows:

Ali Broome

Jorja-Rae Bulger

Tabor Caulier

Ally Coughlin

Jordyn Coughlin

Maddie Fitzpatrick

Abigail Harris

Miley MacLeod

Kenzie MacLean

Brooke Mallet

Josie Perry

Sophia Williams

The Under 11 girls who will train when they are available and will be called in to play when players are missing are:

Grace Newman

Lexus Rayner

Quinn Reilly

Addison Short

Under 13 Boys team update:

We will have one team in the Under 13 boys league and that team will operate out of Evangeline this summer as we could not get enough boys to have a second team out of Hernewood.  For the boys who had registered for Under 13 for out of Hernewood, you are welcome to go down to Evangeline and tryout down there.  They will be going out on Thursday, May 16 at 6:00 pm at Evangeline school.  A further update will follow at the end of the week on this team.
