West Prince Storm Soccer Club - Under 11 Boys team selections

We would like to thank all of the players for their tremendous effort at the recent tryouts for the under 11 teams.  It is absolutely phenomenal to see so many kids wanting to play soccer this summer.  Picking teams is absolutely the hardest thing in sports to do and as volunteer coaches, it is a job that is definitely not fun.  In the interest of fairness we had several people out to run sessions, evaluate during the sessions, etc.. and we have come up with our final decisions for the two under 11 teams.  For any players who were out and have not been named to either team - we do hope that you will play in the community program as that option is certainly there for you to do so.  If so and if teams are missing players for their games then there will be possibly some opportunities to get called up to play in a game or two later in the season.  PEI Soccer names its under 11 divisions as green and white.  Green is considered the higher level of the two.

 

Karch Porter, one of our summer students, has been tasked with being with the under 11 boys as much as possible for coaching - this will be for games and for practices.  However, as both boys teams could be playing at different fields at the same time (especially in the first month of the season), he may not always be able to make every game.  Therefore we will need someone to step up and help with each team in a coaching capacity.  Sara Perry is willing to help with the Green division team, we are looking for someone to help with the white division team.  If you are interested please let us know.  As well, Kester Nurse will be out for some of the practices to help from a technical standpoint as it is our goal to provide as much technical work as possible for the players.  Kester has been coaching in the club for the last few years and has been around the provincial program as well and is a VIP coach thru the Sport Pei program.

 

We know travel at this age can be an issue and sometimes parents like to have others to carpool but unfortunately with having to place the two teams in different divisions we had to pick the team on the strength of players.  We do plan to have the two teams train together the vast majority of the season and I am going to be working on the schedules for the island this week and will try my best to have teams perhaps travel to the same area for the first few weeks of the season when the teams play on either the Friday night or Saturday day, but it may not be possible to do very often.  We will place the order for uniforms immediately, players will have to accept whatever number they get and we will likely have to use an alternate set of uniforms for the first game or two until they come in.  Players and parents should be prepared to play on either May 31 or June 1.
