2026 Community Soccer Program Update

It is hard to believe that the 2026 season is just around the corner.  This article is designed to try and provide some general information to everyone so that parents know what they would be signing up for.

Community Soccer Programs:

The club will be offering the following community soccer programs for the summer.

Under 5 - we are definitely going to be offering a program out of our home base at Hernewood Intermediate.  We are still waiting to hear on whether Bloomfield will be hosting an Under 5 program again this summer or not.  More detail to follow very soon.

Under 7 - this program will see the biggest change from 2025 to 2026.  We have tried the past couple of summers to host jamborees with nowhere the success level that we were striving for.  For 2026 we are going to change the format so that teams will be established in each community (Tignish, Alberton, Bloomfield?, O'Leary and Ellerslie) and these teams will practice once a week in their local community.  As well though, all of the teams will have a weekly game at Hernewood which will begin around the end of June and will last for approximately 8 weeks.  The teams for this age level will be co-ed.  The game night at Hernewood will be on Wednesday night for the under 7 league.

Under 9 - this program has gone very well these past two years since the community programs joined with the club so we are not planning any major changes to this age group.  We will continue to offer both a boys division and a girls division where community teams will be established (Tignish, Alberton, O'Leary and Ellerslie) and these teams will practice once a week to go along with their weekly league game which will be on Thursday night.

Under 11 - we have tried to host a community under 11 program these past two summers but we have not had much success.  Anyone who is interested in playing under 11 soccer this summer should plan to come out when we begin our under 11 teams.  If you want to come out and get a feel for it you can attend our "Come out and try soccer" sessions which will be happening right after the March break, there is no cost to these sessions.  After these sessions are completed we will begin under 11 tryouts and the goal this summer is to have at least 2 teams each on the boys and on the girls side (if we have enough interest for 3 teams then we would most certainly try to put that together).  While we realize that some parents would like to stay just within the West Prince area, unfortunately with the small numbers for a community program it just isn't feasible.  Our goal is to hopefully evaluate all of the players who are out for the under 11 teams and try to make sure that they are on a team that falls within their competitive range.  For more information on the under 11 program please visit the competitive team information page.
